St Ives boxer Shona is now in pole position to represent Team GB at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after taking the English Senior National title.

Competing in Rotherham last weekend, Shona ended up competing in 3 fights over 3 days. Sailing through the quarter finals, Shona then faced the hardest fight of her career to date; against Sandy Ryan who is currently on the GB Podium Squad. With 4 judges voting in Shonas favour and one against, Shona then went through to the final, which she won unanimously.

Opalbond’s team of nutritionists have helped Shona to manage her nutritional needs during tournaments. Shona comments “I’m only 19 and it’s my first year as a senior so I am overwhelmed at becoming National Champion. With 3 tough fights in 3 days, it’s really important I get the correct nutrition, so a big thank you to the girls at Opalbond who helped me get this right. The next step is in 2 weeks when I fight for the GB title”.

Congratulations Shona!!
