Comfort Food Without the Calories

With the days growing colder and shorter, the temptation to reach for sweet and fatty comfort foods only seems to increase. Ruth Wakefield, the inventor of the chocolate chip cookie back in the 1930s she clearly knew a thing or two about comfort food.

Among the ingredients of her ‘Toll House Chocolate Crunch Cookie, named after the restaurant she ran with her husband in Massachusetts, were brown sugar, granulated sugar and Nestlé’s semi-sweet economy bars – certainly a high sugar treat!

Ruth later sold the rights to reproduce her recipe to Nestlé who renamed them chocolate morsels and now sell around 90 billion individual morsels annually.

Thankfully at Opalbond, we have a wide range of protein cookies which are about a clean as you can get; natural, vegan, organic, gluten-free and a great source of protein. They may not have the long history of Ruth’s chocolate chip cookies but we’d like to think they’re just as tasty.

Please get in touch if you’d like to know more about our cookies, chocolate chip or otherwise.
