One of the biggest trends this year are “free from” products. Gluten free, dairy free, soy free, sugar free, the list is growing… Not to mention the vegan and vegetarian products. Supermarkets are continually increasing their offerings, sometimes even dedicating a while aisles worth of products to this niche market.
Recent studies suggest that only 5% of the UK population need to avoid certain food groups for medical reasons, however 54% of households are buying some free from products. It has become fashionable to eat these clean and organic products, with consumers being prepared to pay extra to know the product is natural.
With this trend in mind here at Opalbond we set ourselves a target of developing some great tasting, natural protein cookies. A key factor we were looking for was having a ingredients list you could count on your hands, and be 100% natural and organic. After some going back and forth, we now have some great tasting protein cookies that fit perfectly into this trend.
