Part of the Opalbond-Naturex partnership involves Naturex training me (Charlotte) in each of their categories, so I can provide effective support to our customers; making the development of new products easier for everyone. So I headed to Naturex Overseal for my NatColor™ based training.

With the average consumer becoming more and more aware of the ingredients included in the products they use, natural colours are becoming a key ingredient for Naturex to supply to brands. It really was staggering to see the range of colours that you can add to products to create products which look great, but are naturally coloured.

Each colour is completely unique, and quite often is dependent on the application you are putting it in, mainly due to the pH of the product. Adding a few drops of Beetroot colour into a glass of milk makes the most fantastic strawberry milkshake colour, but adding exactly the same amount of Beetroot colour into a glass of Sprite produces a vibrant, fuchsia colour.

I was amazed at the colours produced, and that was only seeing a handful – otherwise I’m sure I’d still be there now! It was also great to hear about foods and drinks made by huge household name brands that use Naturex colours, showing that gradually the industry is moving towards more natural products.

My training day at Naturex ended with us tasting some homemade ice cream using NatFruit&Veg™ to colour and flavour the ice cream. They tasted amazing so I’m definitely looking forward to the next training day!
